Smart Lab Facilitator


Job Summary

The SMART Lab Facilitator manages, mentors and guides student learning and success in a hands-on and interactive, STEAM-based learning environment. The Facilitator is responsible for planning and implementing daily STEAM-based lesson plans for K-12 students designed to enrich and improve student technology literacy.  Training on Smart lab resources and curriculum will be provided. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and nurture a welcoming, supportive, and cooperative relationship with students, parents and staff?

  • Plan and implement daily lesson plans designed to provide after school enrichment and increase technology literacy and STEAM skills??

  • Submit weekly lesson plans to Director of Technology and Instructional Supports

  • Plan and implement appropriate grade level technology assessments semi-annually in order to track technology literacy/skill progress and mastery

  • Plan and implement at least 6 Structured Activity Units each school year for K-12 grade students 

  • Assist with planning and supervising students on field trips

  • Participate in required Professional Development programs, staff meetings and parent meetings

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and demonstrated interest and experience in teaching STEAM content, such as coding and robotics 

  • Experience working with K-12 students

  • Experience facilitating classes and planning/facilitating lessons

  • Familiarity with the community of North Philadelphia

  • Excellent communication (verbal & written) and organizational skills 

  • Excellent computer skills

  • Energetic, creative and self-starter 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Valid Driver's license??

Physical Requirements

  • Lift 20 pounds; walk or stand for periods of time
