CFO/EVP


Job Summary:

The Chief Financial Officer / Executive Vice President (CFO/EVP) serves as a strategic partner to the President/CEO and executive leadership team, overseeing all financial and administrative operations for Project HOME and its related entities. As a member of the executive leadership team, the CFO/EVP is responsible for shaping and executing organizational strategy while maintaining operational excellence across key business functions.

This role has executive oversight of Human Resources, Information Technology (IT), Risk Management and Insurance, 401K Administration, Health Care Services (FQHC), Internal Audit, Accounting Services, and Financial Planning & Analysis. The CFO/EVP ensures the financial integrity, long-term sustainability, and operational efficiency of the organization, while supporting the mission-driven delivery of services in a dynamic, complex, and community-centered environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Organizational Impact

  • Serve as the principal financial advisor to the CEO, Board of Trustees, and Executive Team
  • Lead the development and execution of long-term financial strategies aligned with Project HOME's mission and growth objectives.
  • Direct and coordinate the organization's strategic planning efforts and the annual process for setting strategic goals.
  • Champion innovation, transparency, and cost-effectiveness across all administrative functions.
  • Partner with executive and programmatic leaders to ensure cross-functional alignment and informed decision-making across the organization.


Financial Management

  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, reporting, and analysis for the organization and its affiliates.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies, regulations, and reporting obligations across multiple funding sources and entities.
  • Direct treasury functions including cash flow management, banking relationships, capital structure, and long-term investment planning.
  • Establish and monitor financial performance metrics, benchmarking, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop internal controls to safeguard assets and maintain data integrity with consistency.

Turnaround & Performance Improvement

  • Lead financial restructuring and turnaround efforts with care and strategic insight for underperforming departments and lines of business.
  • Develop action plans to address financial challenges, including cost reduction and margin enhancement strategies.
  • Leverage curiosity to explore innovative solutions and best practices for improving financial outcomes.
  • Foster collaboration between finance and stakeholders to implement sustainable improvements.



Administrative Oversight

  • Provide strategic oversight of key HR functions, including workforce planning, compensation and benefits and 401K administration.
  • Oversee Information Technology to ensure secure, scalable, and mission-aligned technology infrastructure and support.
  • Lead enterprise-wide risk management efforts, including insurance procurement and internal audit frameworks to safeguard assets and ensure compliance.


Governance & Communication

  • Provide clear and timely financial reporting to the Board of Trustees and external stakeholders.
  • Engage with public officials, institutional partners, funders, and vendors to ensure alignment and accountability.
  • Foster a culture of inclusivity, shared purpose, and service within all administrative units.

Education and Experience Minimum Requirements:

Minimum Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive senior leadership experience in finance and administration, including at the executive level.
  • Proven experience managing budgets in the $30M-$100M+ range, preferably in mission-driven, nonprofit, or human services organizations.
  • Strong record of managing multidisciplinary teams across HR, IT, finance, and risk management functions.
  • Demonstrated success partnering with Boards, CEOs, and community leaders in complex environments.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills; ability to translate complex financial concepts for diverse audiences.

What Experience or Qualifications You May Bring:

  • Chief Financial Officer or Senior Finance Executive at a nonprofit, health care organization (e.g., FQHC), or human services agency managing complex, multi-entity finances.
  • Executive Leadership in a mission-driven organization, with oversight of finance, HR, IT, and risk-possibly during periods of growth, change, or turnaround.
  • Board Engagement experience, including presenting financial reports, participating in strategic planning, and supporting governance and audit committees.
  • Grant and Government Funding Management, especially federal/state funding, Medicaid/Medicare reimbursements, or foundation grants requiring compliance and reporting.
