Job Summary: The Custodian is responsible for keeping the facility clean and performing light maintenance duties. At certain sites, this role also provides direct assistance to residents who have been identified as needing additional support in maintaining their personal area and/or completing assigned daily chores at the site. At certain sites, the Custodian is also responsible for the inventory control and assisting in ordering of all cleaning supplies and paper products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Wipe down all surfaces throughout the building, including windowsills, light fixtures, walls, blinds.
- Clean offices and conference rooms, including removal of trash.
- Clean bathrooms used by staff and visitors.
- Clean front lobby area, including the floor mats and windows.
- Check toilet paper, paper towels, soap dispensers and hand sanitizers throughout the building daily and replenish as needed.
- Sweep, vacuum, and mop floors (wash/change mop heads).
- Maintain outer premises.
- Empty trash throughout the building. Put out trash on designated day, wash out site & yard trash cans.
- Notify manager of any items that need to be repaired or replaced, submit work orders as per policy.
- Receive and respond to work tasks in a courteous and timely fashion
- Light maintenance work (changing lightbulbs, plunging toilets, etc.). 
- Assist with receiving deliveries, review of invoice and restocking supplies.
- Observe confidentiality, privacy, and dignity of each resident.
-  Attend supervision, staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
- Undertake occasional tasks such as shoveling snow from the sidewalk, lifting heavy items, moving furniture, etc. 
Site Specific Duties & Responsibilities (As Applicable)
- Model and teach daily living skills which include but are not limited to, cleanliness of personal space, organization of storage in personal space and closets, time management, and laundry tasks.
- Maintain situational awareness at all times and use de-escalation strategies to maintain a calm and welcoming environment, providing individual and group interventions as needed.
-  When assigned, conduct housekeeping orientation classes for incoming residents and those individuals who have been identified by staff as needing additional support (at applicable sites).
- Supervise residents in the evening cleaning detail in the commercial kitchen on-site (at applicable sites).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Experience: 
- High school diploma (or equivalent)
- Prior janitorial experience Preferred Experience:
- Knowledge & sensitivity of working with people with mental illness, dually diagnosed and/or in recovery
- Bi-lingual
- Valid Driver's License
- 40 hr OSHA 
Core Skills: 
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills required
- Excellent cleaning and household skills including ability to coach and enhance individual skills.
- Basic computer skills 
- Possess good judgment and the ability to appropriately handle confidential & sensitive information 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 
WORK IS PRIMARILY WALKING/STANDING AND LIFTING MATERIALS/EQUIPMENT WEIGHING UP TO 50 LBS.
