As a key driver the Dental Practice Manager will lead the daily operations of our integrated dental care program. In this pivotal role, you'll ensure our dental services run smoothly, meet regulatory standards, and support exceptional, trauma-informed care for our patients - many of whom are experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity.

  • Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
  • Salary Range: $69,302 - $71,728 (Based on experience & education)

The Dental Practice Manager oversees the administrative and operational functions of dental services within Project HOME Healthcare Services' integrated care model. This leadership role ensures smooth daily operations, regulatory compliance, financial sustainability, and high-quality, cost-effective patient care. Key responsibilities include managing staffing and workflows, optimizing scheduling and productivity, overseeing front- and back-office operations, and ensuring effective coordination across internal teams, external vendors, and community partners. The manager also leads dental team recruitment, training, and performance management while overseeing key financial functions such as insurance verification, patient billing, preauthorization's, and referrals.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead Operations: Manage day-to-day clinical workflows, scheduling, patient access, and front desk functions across a busy dental practice.
  • Ensure Compliance: Oversee HRSA, OSHA, CDC, and state dental regulations, conduct mock audits, and implement quality improvement processes.
  • Optimize Financial Health: Supervise billing, insurance verification, preauthorization's, and patient payment processes to support cost-effective care delivery.
  • Drive Patient-Centered Care: Create efficient patient flows, coordinate care for emergencies, and reduce no-shows through proactive scheduling and communication.
  • Manage & Develop Teams: Recruit, train, and supervise a high-performing dental administrative team and support staff, including performance evaluations and ongoing coaching.
  • Partner Across Teams: Act as the liaison between dental, medical, behavioral health, IT, finance, and property management departments, as well as external partners and vendors.
  • Support Strategic Growth: Identify opportunities to improve operations, expand partnerships, and support integrated service delivery within a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) setting.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree or 4+ years of equivalent experience. REQUIRED.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience in a dental setting. REQUIRED.
  • Strong knowledge of dental operations, terminology, insurances, and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in EHRs/Practice Management Systems (eClinicalWorks preferred) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Proven leadership, team management, and conflict resolution skills.
  • A patient-first mindset with a trauma-informed, culturally competent approach.
  • Ability to thrive in a mission-driven, fast-paced environment with diverse patient needs.

What Experience or Qualifications You May Bring:

  • Proficiency in navigating EHR systems
  • Experience working in a FQHC or community health center.
  • Familiarity with HRSA compliance and sliding fee scales.
  • Experience with quality assurance/improvement initiatives (e.g., PDSA cycles).
