Director, Real Estate Preservation & Asset Mgmnt

Job Summary

The Director is responsible for design and construction of real estate preservation projects; all aspects of smaller-scale and major real estate capital projects; and all aspects of asset management of Project HOME's residential and commercial real estate portfolio. Project HOME's residential and commercial real estate portfolio consists of 25 buildings owned by 14 different entities with approximately one million square feet valued at approximately $300 million and is projected to grow by more than $65 million in next five years. Management oversight includes development and implementation of: a capital improvements and asset management plan (and annual updates); implementation of the plan; and capital improvements project budgets. The Director is responsible for carrying out the duties and responsibilities of the position consistent with department goals and Project HOME's mission and strategic plan.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Director leads team members, consultants and other external project team members during all phases of the processes for smaller scale and major real estate capital projects and during the design and construction phases of real estate preservation projects. The Director also leads the team responsible for asset management of Project HOME's residential and commercial real estate portfolio, which currently consists of 25 buildings with approximately one million square feet valued at approximately $300 million.

  • Develop, maintain and update pipeline of real estate preservation and capital projects.
  • Oversee design and construction of all real estate preservation projects, including supervision of the construction representative and oversight of external team members, including, without limitation, architects, construction managers, commissioning agents and energy consultants.
  • Oversee all aspects of capital projects during each phase of the process, including supervision of the construction representative and the capital improvements and asset manager and oversight of any external team members.
  • Collaborate on efforts to engage neighborhood representatives, community residents and Project HOME staff in real estate preservation and capital projects.
  • Supervise the capital improvements and asset manager and assistant project manager to ensure the long-term care, sustainability and preservation of the physical and financial conditions of the portfolio and performance of the real estate assets.
  • Facilitate collaboration among real estate department staff and between the real estate department and other departments.
  • Work in close consultation with the real estate leadership team on department and organizational leadership development.

Education and Experience Minimum Requirements:

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (four years)
  • Eight years of relevant experience.
  • Detailed working knowledge of design and construction of smaller-scale and major capital projects and larger-scale preservation projects.
  • Proficiency in Outlook and Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project).
  • Ability to efficiently travel to and from properties, as required.
