Job Summary: The Director of Individual Giving engages individuals, family foundations, key internal and external Project HOME partners in a culture of philanthropy. Reporting to the Senior Director of Individual Giving, this role strategically and effectively manages a curated portfolio of major gifts donors (125 - 150) capable of donating $1,000 or more to Project HOME, with a significant focus on cultivating and soliciting planned gifts. The Director of Individual Giving also drives stewardship efforts to increase engagement with and subsequent investment in Project HOME. The Director of Individual Giving supervises the Volunteer and In-Kind Gifts Coordinator role. |
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Fundraising: - Manage a portfolio of approximately 125- 150 donors using moves management evidence - based best philanthropic practice. Participate in monthly moves management strategy meetings. Identify and qualify new donor prospects.
- Secure $500,000 annually in outright gifts or new commitments from managed donors and prospects.
- Plan, secure, execute and document 75 (or more) donor visits annually.
- Document additional prospect research, wealth screening and moves management actions in CRM
Stewardship: - Assist with acknowledgement, recognition, ongoing communications and continued cultivation of past and current donors- particularly major donors- to enhance their relationship with the organization. Activities include and are not limited to:
- Scripting and filming video stewardship messages.
- Coordinating video stewardship messages with key staff and key development volunteers; and,
- Creating unique print and digital stewardship impact summaries on a quarterly basis.
- Assist with the creation and production of development communications materials including the annual report, appeals, newsletter articles, and other print materials.
- Develop and execute stewardship strategies for all Development events.
- Support planning and executing major donor engagement strategy, led by the Sr. Vice President of Development and Communications and Sr. Director of Individual Giving.
Planned Giving: - In partnership with the Sr. Vice President of Development/Communications, the Sr. Director of Individual Giving, and the Director of Database and Development Operations, the Director of Individual Giving:
- Plans and executes quarterly mailings to planned giving prospects.
- Conduct intentional prospect research (in collaboration with the Campaign Manager) to discover new planned giving prospects.
- Writes and edits copy (for print and digital purposes) related to planned giving opportunities with Project HOME.
- Complete all necessary compliance requests from estates and legal entities to ensure the timely receipt of legacy gifts to Project HOME.
Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience (4 years).
- Five years of progressive development experience.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships internally and externally.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a part of a team that values proactivity and collegiality.
- Track record in successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, attention to detail, strong organizational and customer service orientation are required.
What Qualifications or Experience You May Bring: - Supervision
- Data Driven Analysis: Familiarity with data-driven fundraising strategies, including using CRMs (Raiser's Edge NXT experience a plus) and related resources to inform decision-making that drive revenue generation.
- Project Management Experience: Experience in managing enterprise-wide fundraising efforts. Experience with Monday.com (or similar project management platforms) a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS - Ability to move to or remain sedentary for periods of time in various locations
