Program Manager - K-8

Job Summary: The K-8 Program Manager oversees an interactive literacy and technology after school program and a summer program for students in Grades K-8.  The Manager supervises the continued development, implementation, and evaluation of all programs geared towards raising the literacy and technology skills of students. The manager develops and controls an operating budget. Manager contributes to all required reporting.  Managers are responsible for nurturing a positive environment that includes effective communication with staff, parents, partners, volunteers and other members of the community. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Organize curriculum, instruction and project-based learning classes geared towards raising academic skills and technology competencies

  • Supervise the development and delivery of instruction and activities 

  • Ensure assessment of all students' progress and prepare reports that include the results of those assessments

  • Develop and strengthen relationships, communication and engagement of partner schools, neighborhood organizations 

  • Manage recruitment, admission, discipline/dismissal of students and ensure effective ongoing communication with parents.

  • Ensure that appropriate K-8 staff are familiar with ETO, PCAPS and that all administrative tasks are completed on time and in compliance with PHMC and DHS.

  • Contribute to grant/contract application as requested by Development Department.

  • Collect, review, and analyze assessment data and ensure that internal and external reporting documentation is accurately completed/submitted on time

  • Develop K-8 operating budget and manage program within budget.

  • Directly supervise all program staff: Lead Teachers, Teacher's Assistants, Parent Liaison and Tutoring Coordinator, Bus Drivers, and a shared Administrative Assistant. 

  • Supervise program staff including goal setting; class observation and coaching; and evaluation.

  • Support the professional development of staff and building a strong and cohesive team through regularly scheduled staff meetings, program planning/professional development sessions and external training.

Minimum Qualifications 

  • BA/BS in Education or related degree

  • Experience with at-risk students in an urban environment

  • Minimum 2-3 years supervisory experience, teaching, and curriculum design, program development and assessment, program, and budget management

  • Excellent organization, planning, verbal, written and interpersonal skills

  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Valid Driver's License

  • Completion of all required clearances

Preferred Qualifications

  • M.A. degree preferred 

  • Early Childhood Education degree preferred

  • Knowledge and understanding trauma informed care

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
