Resident Leadership Coordinator

This position leads efforts create deep points of connection for staff and residents ? to each other and to the mission that none of us are home until all of us are home, and ensures that residents have leadership opportunities to provide key feedback to support Project HOME living into its mission and values. To achieve this, the Resident Leadership & Community Engagement Coordinator directs and coordinates the Resident Advisory Board (RAB), Tenant Councils, Young Adult Community Advisory Board, and the community activities planned by these groups; builds resident engagement, skills, and communication; enhances community life through events and activities for staff and residents; and ensures appropriate follow up and tracking of resident concerns and questions.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and advise the Resident Advisory Board, Tenant Councils, Young Adult Community Advisory Board, and community activities
  • Lead monthly Resident Advisory Board (RAB) meetings and implement resident leader-informed initiatives.
  • Lead Tenant Council development and provide ongoing advising as applicable
  • Lead a core of resident leaders, communicating organizational initiatives with them and seeking feedback; build leadership and recruit new residents into the Resident Advisory Board and other resident activities.
  • Support training opportunities for residents that promote empowerment/recovery/leadership and support resident initiatives for the broader community
  • Develop open communication with staff to ensure a connection and pathway to identify and engage new resident leaders.
  • Coordinate with internal communications for resident newsletter, calendar, electronic board and text magic as well as video and other media used by residents.
  • Communicate across 21 different residences and across both oral and written cultures and a range of technical skills.
  • Coordinate with multi-site staff colleagues and facilitate monthly Young Adult Community Advisory Board meetings.
  • Lead efforts to gather Young Adult input and feedback annually to inform YA CAB programs and resources. 
  • Coordinate and manage new resident welcome baskets process across all residential sites. Maintain PH Authorized driver status.

Enhance Community Life for residents and staff:

  • Lead planning for quarterly Mission Nurture all-community (resident and staff) programs including Potlatch, special community gatherings and holiday events.
  • Convene and chair September Recovery Month planning committee (Mission Nurture, Development, SHO) and co-chair annual HOME Coming all community event.
  • Plan and co-facilitate with RAB resident skill-building and leadership development workshops at residential sites.
  • Partner with Property and Program Managers and Facilities Leads to address resident follow up concerns. Serve as primary coordinator for responding to resident questions and concerns that arise outside site staff across residential sites.
  • Support resident participation in Mission Nurture activities including but not limited to Inspirational Meetings; identify monthly resident guest speakers for Inspiration.
  • Lead Inspiration Meeting when Senior Manager is unavailable.
  • Connect residents to other staff, programs and resources; support residents through resident concern and resident grievance processes as applicable;
  • Develop working relationships with property and program staff across all 21 residences.
  • Conduct monthly residential site visits to collect input and feedback in on-going ways with residents and site staff.

Other duties:

  • Coordinate and share resident input/feedback for staff trainings, new initiatives, and Mission Nurture activities
  • Support Mission Nurture component of New Hire Orientation

Education and Experience Minimum Requirements:

Minimum Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and three years job experience, or equivalent skills and experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience building and leading teams of people to oversee and manage projects from conception to completion
  • Meeting, facilitation, and/or event planning experience with diverse groups
  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Office and Teams and project or data management.
  • Experience interfacing with people with backgrounds of homelessness and/or poverty and ability to communicate effectively with people from all walks of life
  • Familiarity with mission of Project HOME

Physical requirements:

Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
