Job Summary

The Revenue Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing all facets of revenue management, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance across the organization. Responsible for guiding the revenue cycle from recognition to reporting, this role involves collaborating with various departments to optimize revenue streams, mitigate risks, and drive financial sustainability. The Revenue Manager leads a team, develops and implements strategies, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement to maximize revenue opportunities and uphold regulatory standards. This position requires a seasoned professional with expertise in revenue cycle management, financial analysis, regulatory compliance, and leadership to effectively navigate the complexities of revenue operations in a dynamic environment.

Revenue Cycle Management: Health Services

  • Reviews and manages Healthcare Services revenue recognition to ensure accurate and timely recording, billing, and collections.
  • Collaborates with the Billing Supervisor to analyze bad debt and recommend write offs for approval by the Controller and VP of Healthcare Services.
  • Collaborates with management and clinical teams in establishing, maintaining, and monitoring key performance indicators for the revenue cycle operations.
  • Utilizes reports and analytical tools to track claims through the entire lifecycle, ensuring payments are collected timely, and determining the root cause of denied claims.
  • Utilizes technology to strategize with the Healthcare Services team in identifying, developing, and implementing systems and process improvements to promote more efficient revenue cycle operations.

Contract & Contributions

  • Reviews and manages contract and grant revenue recognition to ensure timely recording, billing, and collections.
  • Collaborates with management and development teams to ensure proper management of temporarily or permanently restricted funds.
  • Review use of donor restricted funds to ensure compliance with supporting documentation and accurate recording in the general ledger, including investment activity.
  • Review aging of contract and grant receivables monthly and address collection concerns.

Reporting

  • Review and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting required by federal, state and city contracts, including the contract budgets.
  • Collaborate with the Sr. Director of Budgets and Financial Analysis to project revenue as part of the semi-annual forecasting and budgeting processes.
  • Prepare SEFA for annual audit.
  • Provide input for the annual Medicare cost report.
  • Prepare schedules for annual UDS reporting.

Administration

  • Supervise Senior Revenue Accountant and Billing Supervisor to ensure efficient operations
  • Prepare staff evaluations and set annual goals, including monitoring progress on goals
  • Document policies and procedures for the revenue cycles
  • Conduct training, as needed

Education and Experience Minimum Requirements:

Minimum Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Five or more years supervisory experience
  • Experience in financial analysis, including the ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and make recommendations based on analysis results.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to revenue recognition and reporting in the healthcare or nonprofit sector
  • Experience in preparing for and participating in financial audits
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and mentor staff

Preferred Experience:

  • Revenue cycle management experience, specifically at a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC)
  • Blackbaud Financial Edge/Raisers Edge and health care billing software experience
  • Experience in identifying inefficiencies in revenue cycle operations and implementing process improvements to streamline operations, reduce costs, and enhance revenue generation at FQHC
