Senior Accountant - PH


Job Summary:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for the preparation and input of the month-end closing journal entries for Project HOME, the monthly account analysis and bank account reconciliations. In addition, the Senior Accountant reviews and approves accounts payable.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Month-end close:

  • Meet the deadlines on the month-end closing calendar including preparing & entering journal entries, generating recurring entries, and reconciling bank statements
  • Generate monthly management reports including labor distribution and capital expenditure summary
  • Reconcile accounts monthly to ensure accurate reporting and timely resolution of reconciling items
  • Assist in preparation of year-end audit schedules as assigned
  • Analyze financial statement for discrepancies and alert management as necessary

Accounts Payable:

  • Review and approve invoices and employee expense reports for weekly check runs
  • Work with Accounts Payable Specialist to identify and implement process improvements in the Accounts Payable cycle
  • Ensure invoices are being entered on a timely basis and assist with data entry as needed
  • Backup Accounts Payable Specialist as needed to ensure timeliness of vendor payments

Other:

  • Assist in maintaining accounting systems and ensuring the integrity of the systems
  • Respond to ticketing system questions for account analysis and reclasses in a timely manner
  • Assist in the implementation of new systems and/or processes
  • Recommend ways to reduce costs, enhance revenue and/or improve efficiency of accounting processes
  • Document and maintain accounting procedures
  • Other duties as requested by the Accounting Manager

Education and Experience Minimum Requirements:

Minimum Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • Minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience required.
  • Non-profit experience a plus

Preferred Experience:

  • Knowledge and prior experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge a plus.
  • Knowledge and prior experience with Chrome River a plus.


Core Skills:

  • Candidates should be self-motivated, able to prioritize and meet deadlines, willing to work with other team members and departments, and should possess strong communication skills.
  • Must be proficient in Excel.


Physical requirements:

Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
