What to expect in this role:
The Weekend Supervisor is responsible for the overall coordination and operation of the Hub of Hope during the weekends, including but not limited to: showers, laundry, meals and transportation to shelter. In addition to the operational responsibilities of this role, the weekend supervisor is responsible for maintaining an environment that is safe and welcoming for all who receive our services.
What will you do in this role:
- Weekend Supervision
- Ensure that all weekend services run smoothly and on time, including but not limited to: showers, laundry, meals and transports to shelter.
- Oversee the weekend support staff, volunteers, and other direct reports as assigned. Conduct regular supervisory meetings with each direct report.
- Orient guests to services offered on site and answer questions.
- Maintain an electronic record of guests who have signed up for social services.
- Accept deliveries and donations. Provide donation receipts.
- Use de-escalation skills and maintain situational awareness at all times in order to prevent and respond to incidents that may arise. Maintain communication with key staff throughout the Hub of Hope.
- Debrief weekends with Senior Program Manager, and participate in staff meetings as required
- Conduct closing rounds. Ensuring that all participants have left the Hub and doors.
- Resource Coordination
- Assessment and Referral
- Build rapport with individuals who frequent the Hub. Learn their treatment and residential histories. Discuss what worked, what didn't work and why.
- Conduct assessments and refer guests to appropriate services, including but not limited to: shelter, permanent supportive housing, substance use and mental health treatment, intensive case management, and employment and education services.
- Identify and prioritize essential services. Target most appropriate facilities for placement based on individual needs and the level of service required.
- Assist guests with obtaining IDs and benefits as well as medical and psychiatric evaluations for placement.
- Complete housing applications and referrals through CEA-BHRS.
- Promote effective strategies for engaging regular users of Hub services, including referrals to the Living Room, the Hospitality Coordinator, the benefits counselor, or the medical team as needed.
- Advocate for individual's needs within the larger system of services.
- Maintain records as required for contractual and agency standards including ETO and HMIS. (Training on systems will be available.)
- Goal Planning
- Work with individuals on caseload to develop short- and long-term goals using a person-centered approach. Discuss their concerns, fears and frustrations, and work to resolve or alleviate them.
- Challenge individuals on caseload to address the obstacles they may face in achieving their long-term goals.
- When a placement has been achieved, continue to work with the individual and service providers to maximize support and minimize opportunities to leave the continuum of care prematurely.
- Crisis Prevention
- Maintain situational awareness at all times in order to prevent and respond to incidents that may arise and promote a safe environment for all.
What you will bring to this role:
- At least 2 years of experience as a supervisor.
- Working knowledge of the Philadelphia homeless provider network and social services system.
- Working knowledge of the drug and alcohol treatment system and/or the behavioral health system
- Excellent listening, communication, and de-escalation skills
- Ability to deal with resistance effectively.
- Experience working in a high-volume, fast paced environment and maintaining organization.
