Position Overview
The Director of Development Services will oversee staff, systems, and processes that ensure the integrity, accuracy, and efficiency of fundraising operations for a $20 Million annual fundraising program. You will serve as a trusted partner to the SVP of Development and Communications, VP of Individual Giving, executive and board leadership, translating data and operational insights into actionable strategies that improve donor stewardship, reporting, and fundraising performance.

As the leader of this critical function, you will help define how Development Services operates. Success requires comfort with complexity, strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to prioritize competing initiatives while supporting a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Reporting to the Senior Vice Development and Communications and overseeing a team of two Development Services professionals, this role advances Project HOME's mission to end chronic street homelessness in Philadelphia by stewarding high-performing fundraising systems and processes.

  • Location: 1515 Fairmont Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19131 (Christopher J. Seward Residence)
  • Hybrid: Eligible for 1 remote days after 90 days of employment, based on business needs
  • Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00 am-5:00 pm with three major events a year (during the day/evening).
  • Salary: $118,695 annually

The strongest candidates will bring vision for Development Services, experience creating scalable systems and process documentation, and the confidence and expertise to serve as a true operational leader and strategic partner to fundraising leadership.

You Will:

  • Lead fundraising operations, systems, and reporting for a $20M development program.
  • Oversee CRM management, data integrity, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Develop dashboards, forecasts, and reports to support fundraising strategy.
  • Partner with leadership and fundraisers to improve donor and pipeline management.
  • Direct, mentor and support Development Services staff and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Development Operations & Financial Management

  • Coordinate organization-wide private revenue budgeting, including projections, trend analysis, and fiscal forecasting.
  • Track and report on key performance indicators for fundraising staff.
  • Develop and maintain a suite of regular reports (e.g., monthly revenue dashboards, trend analyses, pipeline health) that inform strategy, forecast progress, and support fundraising planning.

CRM & Data Systems Management

  • Oversee CRM and other fundraising data systems, ensuring data integrity, security, and usability.
  • Establish and enforce database standards, including access, privacy, coding, and maintenance across Development Services' team.
  • Coordinate technical and procedural interfaces with internal and external systems.
  • Lead CRM upgrades, enhancements, and workflow optimizations in partnership with IT and vendors.
  • Use data and system insights to support segmentation, prospect identification, and pipeline development.
  • Document and enforce standard CRM policies and procedures, including naming conventions, data lifecycle management, and integration practices to ensure consistency, accuracy, and scalability.

Gift Stewardship & Reporting

  • Ensure best practices in gift and pledge processing, acknowledgements, tracking, and reporting.
  • Maintain dashboards and reporting tools that provide actionable insights for fundraisers and leadership.
  • Develop and enforce standard operating procedures to ensure compliance, consistency, and accuracy.
  • Partner with frontline fundraisers and revenue officers to prepare data summaries, reports, and donor profiles that inform solicitation strategy and stewardship planning.

Prospect Management & Strategic Support

  • Support moves management and prospect pipeline activities by providing timely data, reports, and analysis that help fundraisers prioritize outreach and engagement.
  • Develop and manage prospect performance reporting and dashboards that signal pipeline status, engagement trends, and next-step opportunities.
  • Strengthen departmental capacity in prospect research, identification, and moves management by building systems and processes that empower fundraisers.

Staff Leadership & Department Capacity

  • Lead, mentor, and develop Development Services staff, promoting a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead ongoing training on CRM best practices, reporting tools, and data stewardship protocols for fundraising staff.
  • Strengthen departmental capacity in prospect research, identification, and moves management by building systems and processes that empower fundraisers.
  • Oversee state charitable compliance.

What You Bring (Required Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (minimum of 6 years).
  • At least 6 years of development experience in a nonprofit environment, including direct staff supervision (minimum of 3 years) and management, project and database management.
  • Proficiency with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge/NXT and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, including mentoring and managing staff with diverse responsibilities.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience working with budgets and financial reports.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
  • Commitment to a customer service orientation, ensuring responsive, supportive, and solution-focused service to external partners, fundraisers, leadership, and donors.

What You May Bring (Preferred Skills & Experience):

  • Experience in health and human services nonprofit organization.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce, or other CRM platforms.
  • Experience managing revenue over $10M annually.
  • Familiarity with data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
