Benefits Counselor

As a Benefits Counselor, you'll play a vital role in helping patients overcome barriers to healthcare by connecting them with insurance coverage, financial assistance, and essential support services. Your work will ensure individuals can access the care they need while helping strengthen the long-term sustainability of our healthcare programs.

Location: Stephen Klein Wellness Center, 2144 Cecil B. Moore Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19121
Schedule: Monday-Friday | 9:00 AM-5:00 PM
Compensation: $21.65/hour

What You'll Do

  • Screen patients for Medicaid, Medicare, Marketplace, and other insurance programs.
  • Complete insurance applications and determine sliding fee eligibility.
  • Support referrals, prior authorizations, and specialty care access.
  • Provide front desk coverage and scheduling support as needed.
  • Maintain accurate insurance and patient records.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and community partners.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree or two years of experience in an FQHC or similar healthcare setting.
  • Strong organizational, computer, and Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and collaboratively.

What You May Bring

  • Experience working in an FQHC.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English or another language).
  • Knowledge of Pennsylvania COMPASS and Medicaid enrollment.
  • Experience serving vulnerable populations.
