Minimum Starting Pay: $20.60/hour
We are seeking a Senior Medical Assistant for the Stephen Klein Wellness Center whose primary responsibility will be to perform administrative and clinical procedures to ensure all patients seen at the Stephen Klein Wellness Center receive high quality, efficient care. The Senior Medical Assistant also provides back up for the Medical Assistant Supervisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Roles and Responsibilities (40% of time):
- Escort patients to exam rooms, interview patients to obtain medical history, measure vital signs (height and weight measurements, blood pressure, pulse, temperature) and record all information in patient medical file.
- Ensure all appropriate preventive care is documented in patient medical file and ordered if due as per protocol
- Ensure all related reports, labs and information is filled out and available in patients' medical records prior to appointment
- Secure patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records, keeping patient information confidential.
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations (disinfect, clean); assist practitioner in exam rooms.
- Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization as required; properly dispose of contaminated supplies.
- Maintain all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, cold sterilization fluid changes, etc.).
- Prepare and administer medications as directed by provider. Draw blood, remove sutures, change dressings.
- Collect blood, tissue and other laboratory specimens, logs the specimens and prepare them for testing.
- Call patients/send letters a directed to communicate basic medical information and results. Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/provider/pharmacy calls.
- Refill prescription medications for patients as per protocol; assist with scheduling of tests and treatments.
Administrative Roles and Responsibilities (60% of time)
- Coordinator for VFC and VFAAR Programs
- Oversee maintenance/calibrations for medical equipment at SKWC
- Order medical and lab supplies for SKWC
- Fills role of Medical Assistant Supervisor when this staff is unavailable

Minimum Requirements:
- Certified Medical Assistant.
- Graduation from a Medical Assisting training program.
- A high school diploma or GED.
- At least three years of experience as Medical Assistant
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, internet.
Preferred:
- CPR and First Aid certification.
