Kitchen Manager

Job Summary

The Kitchen Manager is responsible for managing the operations of the residential kitchens and overseeing the Culinary Venture pilot. The Kitchen Manager will streamline operations, ensure consistency in culinary standards across kitchens, and optimize resource allocation. Schedule: M-F 9am-5pm with some flexibility for special events.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversight of Residential Kitchens

- Manage and supervise the operations of six+ residential kitchens within Project HOME programs.

- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations in all kitchen facilities.

- Develop and implement standardized processes and procedures.

- Conduct regular inspections and audits to maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and quality standards.

Culinary Venture Pilot Management

- Lead the planning, execution, and evaluation of the Culinary Venture pilot catering service.

- Coordinate catering orders, menu planning, and food preparation schedules.

- Oversee the recruitment, training, and supervision of resident kitchen assistants and catering staff.

- Monitor performance metrics and customer feedback to continuously improve service quality and efficiency.

Resource Management

- Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiencies through centralized purchasing, inventory management, and kitchen operations.

- Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to optimize procurement processes.

- Monitor inventory levels, minimize waste, and ensure efficient utilization of resources across all kitchen facilities.

Quality Control and Compliance

- Establish and maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency.

- Implement and enforce best practices in food safety, handling, and sanitation.

- Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies.

Supported Employment Program Facilitation

- Facilitate the integration of residents into kitchen operations and catering services as part of the supported employment program.

- Provide training, mentorship, and ongoing support to resident kitchen assistants and catering staff.

- Create a positive and inclusive work environment that fosters skill development, empowerment, and professional growth.

Revenue Generation and Financial Management

- Develop pricing strategies and cost structures for catering services to ensure profitability and sustainability.

- Track financial performance, analyze revenue trends, and prepare budget projections.

- Collaborate with finance and administrative teams to manage expenses, invoicing, and financial reporting related to catering operations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Experience

- High School Diploma/GED or Equivalency and 3-5 years of experience cooking for large groups and/or in an institutional setting.

- 2 years of experience in managing the operations of a kitchen, including budget management and an in-depth knowledge of kitchen health and safety regulations.

- ServSafe Managerial Certification

- Knowledge of balanced menu planning

Preferred Experience

- Certificate in culinary arts

- Valid Pa driver's license.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

WORK THAT PRIMARILY INVOLVES STANDING/WALKING AND SOME LIFTING.
