Job Summary The Support Staff will
support residents in achieving their goals that promote recovery, wellness,
and successful community living. Support Staff will assist in the development
of a culture of recovery and peer support, in which Project HOME alumni and
residents are encouraged to build and strengthen relationships with their
peers and maximize their use of community resources. The Support Staff will
work together with residential staff to support residents in achieving their
goals, through the use of support, role modeling, connecting with and using
community resources, assisting to build new competencies and other similar
activities. The Support Staff is key
to maintaining the peace and quiet enjoyment of the community; assist in
orienting new residents to the program & protocols; and maintain
security.

Essential Duties and
Responsibilities
Maintain Site Health & Safety- Allow access to staff, residents, guests, and
identified delivery people only. Assure that all guests sign the visitor's
log. Log in deliveries.
- Conduct rounds of the building, including
checking the safety and security of residents, the building is secure and
that monitors are working properly. Check all exterior doors to make sure
they are locked and secured. Check all doors and windows as appropriate to
make sure they are locked and secure. Document rounds accordingly.
- Maintain situational awareness at all times and use
de-escalation strategies to maintain a calm and welcoming environment,
providing individual and group intervention as needed.
- Become familiar with emergency/crisis procedures. Contact
emergency services and on-call staff in case of resident emergency or
Property emergency (flood, fire).
- Log & report any unusual activity
- Responsible for keeping clean workstation
(wiping down area, emptying trash, etc.)
- Assist residents with key access to their unit when
locked out.
- Ability to manage residents alone at the site with
on-call assistance available as needed.
- Communication
- Answer incoming calls, take accurate messages, and
transfer calls as necessary
- Check and respond to email regularly during shift
- Assist with general administrative duties, such as
faxing, copying, mailing, creating flyers etc.
- Participate in Shift Change with person taking over
your shift to share information
- Write a brief summary of your shift in the staff logbook
and/or add a progress note in ETO as appropriate.
- Resident
Engagement
- Provide initial support and engagement to new
residents
- Assist residents in acclimating to new
housing/neighborhood
- Be courteous and respectful of all residents,
guests and community members
- Establish
and maintain healthy relationships with residents.
- Promote Recovery Community
- Assist residents in taking an active role in their
own wellness by helping them implement new habits that promote
independent living, health, and wellness.
- Respectfully engage persons in recovery in a way
that recognizes every person's recovery process is unique. Support them
in identifying strengths, existing supports, and community resources.
- Facilitate recovery and community building groups
and activities as appropriate
- Additional Duties
- Meet regularly with
supervisor for supervision to provide updates and to seek feedback.
- Participate in staff
meetings and other Project Home meetings as scheduled.
- Attend required trainings in
Litmos and others training resources as appropriate
- Receive and document food
fees/program fees and receipts as required (for sites that collect
fees).
- Kitchen Support Duties (for sites with meal
service)
- Prepare and serve
meals/snacks as designated times as required
- Maintain cleanliness
of kitchen and oversee kitchen clean up (wash dishes, empty trash, etc)
- Medication Monitoring Duties (for sites with
med rooms)
- Assist residents to
comply with taking their prescribed medications per medication monitoring
policy and protocols.
- Review medication
supply for each resident and alert staff of medications to be called into the
pharmacy
- Organize medication
logs for each resident and maintain MAR Sheets.
- Receive and document
all medications brought in by residents or per delivery to site.

Minimum Qualifications
- GED or high school diploma
required.
- For sites with meal service, ServSafe certificate at
time of hire or willingness to attend class and pass test within the
first 90 days.
- Ability to establish trusting relationship with residents,
understanding and respect for each individual's path to recovery.
- Commitment to recovery, choice, empowerment, and the
ability of people with serious mental illness or co-occurring disorders
to find meaningful lives in the community.
- Excellent listening, communication and
collaboration. Ability to work as part of a team.
- Able to document work accurately and utilize a
computer for email, calendar, and documentation.
Preferred
qualifications
- Experience working in behavioral health and/or
homelessness.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention and de-escalation
- Peer Specialist Certification
- Bilingual (Spanish) a plus
- Valid Driver's license
- Experience working with Harm Reduction preferred.
