Job Summary
Art Program Coordinator is responsible for daily creative arts classes in-person at Project HOME sites. They support Project HOME residents attending Project HOME and partner organizations' classes. And they help plan, curate, and hang at least one (1) public art exhibition.
Involves daily travel between sites. Vehicle required for transporting art and supplies. Coordinator is based out of the Honickman Learning Center Comcast Technology Labs at 1936 N Judson St 19121.
Hours are thirty (30) hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 12:00 pm and 6:00 pm. Hours may be modified for specific events and meetings (at least two weeks advance notice will be given). |
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitates daily creative arts classes at Project HOME sites, develop lessons which build to culminating work(s) by participants, plan (including creating supply list and scheduling), recruit (create materials, like calendars and flyers, and recruit at resident meetings and events), set up daily, deliver/facilitate classes, photograph classes and participant work, clean up, follow-up with residents and staff in response to absences or issues that arise, and enter attendance
- Curates at least one (1) public art exhibition, in collaboration with Project HOME Development Department, attend planning meetings, solicit artwork (call for art), collect artwork, help select featured artists with art advisory group, advise artists in pricing, photograph and catalog art, hang show, take down the show, coordinate pick-up of purchased artwork, and return unsold artwork. The next planned exhibition is the every-eighteen-months Artists for All Seasons exhibition, expected for Fiscal Year 2025.
- Coordinate enrollment for and support Project HOME residents attending partner organizations' classes. Check in with and collect attendance from partner organizations. Mediate between residents and partner organizations if appropriate.
- Maintains positive relations and collaborates with staff, residents, alumni, partners (individual and organizational), volunteers, and donors.
- Support residents in participating in external sales opportunities (e.g. art vendor markets).
- Supervise Project HOME residents working as Teaching Artists at Project HOME. Support their classes.

Education and Experience Minimum Requirements
Minimum Experience
- Either
- Bachelor's degree, in Fine Arts, Art Education, Visual Arts, or a related field and one (1) year or more of experience in art education.
- Associate's degree (or equivalent) and three (3) or more years of experience in art education.
- Computer proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and data entry.
Preferred Experience
- Experience teaching or supporting adult learners or artists.
- Art therapy experience.
- Experience working in residential settings.
- Experience working with the LGBTQIA population.
- Digital photography
