Medical Director

We are currently seeking a mission-driven, strategic, and hands-on Medical Director to serve as the senior clinical leader for Healthcare Services at Project HOME. This role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered, and integrated care across all clinical programs, while strengthening team performance, advancing clinical excellence, and aligning healthcare services with the broader mission of the organization.

The Medical Director will serve as a key member of the senior leadership team, partnering closely with the Senior Vice President of Healthcare Services/HRSA Project Director and the Senior Director of Operations to lead a comprehensive, multidisciplinary care model that supports individuals experiencing homelessness and other medically underserved populations.

Position Overview: The Medical Director is both a strategic leader and an operational partner, responsible for overseeing clinical care delivery across multiple service lines, including primary care, behavioral health, dental, and mobile health services.

This role sits at the center of Healthcare Services, ensuring that clinical strategy, daily operations, and patient care are aligned, effective, and responsive to community needs.

  • Location: Stephen Klein Wellness Center: 2144 Cecil B. Moore Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19121
  • Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8/8:30am-5pm, 6pm on Tuesdays (Exempt)
  • Local Travel: Travel to Hub of Hope and mobile services
  • Salary Range: $217, 200- $255,000 based on experience

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership & Quality

  • Oversee all clinical service lines, including primary care, behavioral health, dental, and mobile health services
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality, patient-centered, and trauma-informed care
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives and monitor clinical performance outcomes
  • Promote a culture of clinical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement

Team Leadership & Development

  • Supervise clinical directors and medical providers across disciplines
  • Mentor and develop clinical leaders, strengthening leadership capacity across teams
  • Set clear expectations and support staff in achieving performance goals
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and mission-driven team environment

Strategic & Operational Leadership

  • Translate organizational strategy into clinical and operational priorities
  • Partner closely with the Senior Director of Operations to align clinical and operational functions
  • Identify opportunities to expand services, improve access, and strengthen care delivery models
  • Support program development and service innovation

Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including HRSA and FTCA standards
  • Oversee clinical policies, procedures, and documentation practices
  • Monitor clinical risk and ensure safe, consistent care delivery
  • Maintain readiness for audits and regulatory reviews

Financial & Resource Stewardship

  • Monitor productivity, utilization, and clinical performance metrics
  • Support responsible resource allocation, including staffing and supplies
  • Partner with leadership on budgeting and financial planning
  • Balance quality care delivery with financial sustainability

Collaboration & Organizational Leadership

  • Serve as a member of the Senior Management Team
  • Partner across departments including operations, nursing, finance, HR, and quality
  • Collaborate with program leaders across housing, outreach, and supportive services
  • Represent Healthcare Services within the broader organization

Patient Care & Clinical Presence

  • Maintain visibility across clinical sites
  • Provide direct patient care as needed
  • Support teams in real-time problem solving and care delivery
  • Lead by example in delivering compassionate, mission-driven care

What You Bring

  • Currently licensed Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy in Pennsylvania
  • Board Certified in Family Medicine
  • Minimum three years' experience in an established leadership capacity in an organization providing medical and/or behavioral health services.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to create effective teams, provide and communicate vision, and effectively manage change.
  • Collaborative, strategic leader able to align clinical operations with organizational goals and support team development
  • Must meet Project HOME's privileged requirements as required by the Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA).
  • Current CPR certification or obtain within one month if not current.
  • Pass Project HOME's criminal and child abuse background checks.
  • Must possess a current driver's license

What You May Bring (Preferred Skills & Experience)

  • Experience in an integrated or mission-driven healthcare setting, overseeing multi-site, multidisciplinary providers
  • Experience in providing services regarding health equity, trauma-informed care, and serving people experiencing homelessness or other underserved populations
  • Familiarity with HRSA-funded programs or FQHC environments
